box_shadow_style=&#8221;preset2&#8243; custom_margin=&#8221;|10px||10px&#8221;][et_pb_tab title=&#8221;PROJECT OVERVIEW&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;3.23.1&#8243;]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion has shown promising alternative energy due to its stable energy supply as not being largely influenced by the meteorological condition.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">The specifics of this project, as part of the bigger program, is to research the performance improvement in the Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) system for Hybrid OTEC.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">ORC is widely considered as a promising technology to produce electrical power output from low-grade thermal sources.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Potentially ORC system could have overall efficiency between 10-20% based on the current state-of-the-art technology proven by other parties.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">A similar level of efficiency or better need to be the target for Hybrid OTEC system, which has its own set of difficulties.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Thus this research is mainly aimed to investigate all parameters in the ORC system which could enhance the overall system efficiency, plus reduce the cost for implementation.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">This will involve design level optimization where different components are lumped together for cross-interaction, leading to operational improvements.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">The specific focus of this research is on the working medium of the ORC.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">The most common working liquids of ORC are readily available refrigerants or ammonia.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">However, enhancement in the working liquid by means of nanoparticles infusion could improve the overall efficiency.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">The impact of nanofluids and its implementation into ORC as part of the Hybrid OTEC will be investigated in this research.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/et_pb_tab][et_pb_tab title=&#8221;PROJECT OBJECTIVES&#8221;
